Arbelobello literally means '' beautiful tree'', and why this little town bears that name, I'm not quite sure.

Some sources say that the name Arbelobello derives from the oak forest that once was covering a large part of the region.

I do not remember that we were learning about this awesome town at school. Was I maybe absent, did I maybe forget due to enormous amount of information we were bombed with, or it's something else?!??

It's not that important anymore, because as you can see I had a chance to make up for all possibly missed in the past....and all of you current readers are having the same opportunity.

So, I've already written that this city is located in the region called Puglia, in the southern part of Italy (that includes the well-known ''heel''), and it's famous for its unique buildings named trulli.

It is believed that houses of this type date back to 16th century, and they served as a temporary shelters for farmers, as well as warehouses.

They are built of a dry stone (taken from the surrounding fields) and without the use of mortar, of course in order to avoid taxing.

The roof has a chracteristic conical, domed or pyramidal shape.

Zidovi su inace veoma debeli, i to daje dobru izolaciju. Leti je prijatno, a zimi fino toplo :)

Walls are thick, which provides a good isolation. It's so pleasant during the summer, and it's warm during the winter. :)

Tanti saluti,

xxx

Ivy
